My First R| R Clarity Roadmap Two

The Method for Getting the Mouth Ready to Say R Clearly

Get help teaching your child to say their first R Sound!

If you're struggling to help your child learn to say the R sound and all the Youtube videos, miles long word lists, and google searching is letting you down (and getting overwhelming!), this done for you curriculum is for you!

And that is what many YouTube Videos miss – R is often different based on the person speaking and the words you are saying that you need a resource that can help you teach R in a way that is flexible, but teaches the parts that are the same... and how to get that good R growing!

Check out My First R, a video curriculum that can help you create the first and next R sounds at home.

Does any of this sound like you?

Difficulty saying the R sound?
R sounds like W, turning “red” into “wed.” It can make your child hard to understand and they might be a little frustrated or embarrassed.

❌ Trouble finding help?

Searching for videos, books, downloads trying to get more support that you can use at home. Whether you have speech therapy or not, you might be on your own at home and the overwhelm is hard.

❌ Your child tries but  it just isn't clicking?

The mind is willing but the body is…. Weak? This can be where frustration hits for your child. If they try R flashcard after R flashcard and they are going nowhere fast, it can make it hard to want to practice at home.

❌ Your child child can say R, but not consistently?

R needs to be strong, strong, strong before moving on to avoid frustration, progress plateaus, and sometimes even moving backwards.

❌ You’ve been to speech therapy for R for a LONG time?

You have a great SLP, but the weekly sessions just aren’t enough. You’d love to work in between therapy sessions using speech therapy techniques and you want to know how to fix what might be missing.

If yes, and you want something different - join me, and let’s talk about how to untangle R sounds and move on with more important things..

Hi there -
I’m Amanda and I'm a homeschool grad, mom of 4, and speech language pathologist.

I have seen so many children who have sat in speech therapy for years and not made progress. Sometimes R sounds right, but most of the time they can't say it clearly no matter how hard they try. The practice they have had at home was well intentioned, but no one walked them through the order for R and how to really make R other than "round your lips" and "pull your tongue back."

Some of them sound like they have a hot potato in their mouth...

Some of them have worked on their tone and built a great foundation for R, but haven't quite figured out what THEIR mouth needs to be doing for R, because they've been trying to do it the way someone else does it.

I love to teach:

  • a couple things that stay the same even in different mouths with different Rs.
  • how to find your own R

May I share that with you?

This isn't something just special to me in the speech therapy world, these are concepts that have traction but there is so little available built for parents to use at home that lay it all out. It’s an expectation that everyone either has access to a provider OR their sweet speech language pathologist has the knowledge and TIME to share it.

That isn't always the case, so I decided to start putting it together the way I teach families in my private practice.

For homeschool parents that want to know how it works and want to support their child at home with effective practice for that first R.

Introducing

My First R

In this unpackable video curriculum, I share the techniques I use with my speech therapy clients to get them saying that first time. You can take the techniques and make them a simple part of your daily routine to get that first R rolling and growing towards words.

Clear Rs start with your first R.

A strong first R can set you up for success, because accuracy can be high before you start putting it into words.
